Top 5 Scenic Elopement Locations in Rocky Mountain National Park (With Permit Tips + Photo Inspiration)
There are few places on Earth as magical and breathtaking as Rocky Mountain National Park. It’s no secret that it’s one of my all-time favorite spots for elopements—and I’ve had the honor of guiding so many amazing couples through their dream day here. Whether you’re drawn to epic mountain views, wildflower meadows, or intimate forest hideaways, RMNP has a little bit of everything.
If you're dreaming of eloping in Rocky Mountain National Park but aren't sure where to start, this guide is for you! Below, I’ll share my top 5 favorite ceremony locations (with photo inspo!), tips for navigating the permit process, and how I help couples create an unforgettable experience.
3M Curve
Best for: Panoramic mountain views and dramatic rock formations
3M Curve is iconic for a reason. The backdrop here is stunning, with massive peaks and wide-open views that look straight out of a postcard. The rocky outcrop makes you feel like you're on the edge of the world, and it photographs like a dream. It’s a popular spot (and one of the most requested!), but still feels intimate when timed right. Morning ceremonies here? Chef’s kiss.
This is one of my favorite spots for couples who want that "epic Colorado feel" without needing to hike. The lighting is best in the morning or golden hour, and there’s plenty of space to spread out and soak in the views.
Pro tip: Wear comfortable shoes—the trail is short but a little rocky. Bring layers and water, and get ready to feel like you're standing in a real-life painting.
Moraine Park
Best for: Wide open meadows and elk sightings
Moraine Park offers a classic Colorado feel with vast meadows, winding rivers, and jaw-dropping mountain views. It’s beautiful all year, but especially magical in the fall when the elk start bugling—you might even spot a herd in the distance during your ceremony!
It’s one of the most accessible areas in the park, which makes it amazing if you're including grandparents or friends who don’t want to hike. There are so many sweet spots to sneak off to for portraits after the ceremony—some near the river, others tucked under the trees. And oh my goodness, the golden hour glow here? UNREAL.
Pro tip: Bring a blanket for sitting or snuggling post-ceremony, especially if you're doing a picnic or champagne toast. And keep an eye (and ear!) out for elk!
Upper Beaver Meadows
Best for: Privacy and golden light
This spot is a total hidden gem! Upper Beaver Meadows feels like your own private piece of paradise—especially at sunset, when the light rolls over the hills and bathes everything in gold. It’s less trafficked than other locations, which makes it perfect for couples who want peace, space, and a touch of magic.
It’s also surrounded by dreamy trees, wildflowers in summer, and open fields that make you feel like you're in a nature documentary. It’s one of those places where time feels like it slows down.
Pro tip: This area is closed during part of the year to protect wildlife, so we’ll want to double-check timing. Parking is limited, so it works best for smaller groups. And definitely pack your sense of adventure—it’s worth it!
Sprague Lake
Best for: Lakeside views and wheelchair accessibility
Sprague Lake is a flat, easy loop with some of the best reflections in the park. The lake is ringed by pine trees and framed by distant peaks—and when the water is still, it mirrors the mountains like something out of a fairytale.
It’s a go-to for sunrise elopements (trust me—it’s SO worth the early alarm), and it’s accessible for guests with mobility needs. Plus, there are several quiet spots around the lake where you can have your ceremony in semi-seclusion.
Pro tip: Get there before the crowds! Sunrise ceremonies here are absolutely unreal. You might even catch the lake like glass. Also, pack a thermos of hot coffee and soak in the peaceful morning vibes.
Dream Lake (via Bear Lake Trailhead)
Best for: Adventurous couples and alpine vibes
If you're up for a little adventure, Dream Lake is one of the most stunning alpine lakes in RMNP. The 2.2-mile round-trip hike is moderate and totally doable—even in wedding attire if you’re up for a little fun! (And yes, I always carry your bouquet and help fluff your dress.)
Once you arrive, the view is absolutely next-level. Towering peaks, glacial waters, and the quiet that only comes from being a little off the beaten path—it’s a vibe. I’ve had couples share private vows here, pop champagne, and dance on the shoreline.
Pro tip: Pack light, wear trail shoes, and bring layers. Weather changes quickly at elevation, and trust me—you’ll want a cozy jacket once the sun dips. Also, weekday mornings are best to avoid the crowds.

RMNP Elopement Permit Tips
To legally elope in Rocky Mountain National Park, you’ll need a Special Use Permit from the National Park Service. Here are the basics:
- Permit fee: $300
- Limit: Only 60 weddings per month are allowed
- Timing: Permits book up FAST (especially for summer/fall weekends)
- Where to apply: RMNP official permit page
Only designated ceremony locations are allowed, and each has its own guest limit. When you book with me, I help walk you through the entire process—from picking a site and applying for permits, to planning timing around lighting and crowds.
