The places you won’t always see on Pinterest — but where magic absolutely happens.
HIDDEN GEMS
For couples who choose connection over crowds.
There are the venues everyone talks about…
And then there are the places tucked between riverbanks, inside quiet forests, and just around that curve in the road that most people never take.
These are the hidden gems — the venues where I’ve seen couples slow down, breathe deeper, and feel fully present with each other. The places guests say:
“This feels so you.”
As a wedding & elopement photographer based in Northern Colorado, I spend most of my time wandering with my camera and hiking boots — and I’ve fallen in love with these lesser-known locations. Here’s your ultimate guide to the best wedding & elopement venues in Northern Colorado (with real photography insight from someone who’s actually shot there!).

ESTES PARK & RED FEATHER LAKES WEDDING VENUES
ASPEN GROVE AT SUNDANCE TRAIL GUEST RANCH – RED FEATHER LAKES, CO
📍RED FEATHER LAKES, CO
💰 STARTING AROUND $4,500 FOR FULL-DAY VENUE RENTAL WITH LODGING PACKAGES AVAILABLE
A forest hideaway where it genuinely feels like time slows down.
Cabins tucked into the trees. A barn-style event space. Horses grazing nearby. This is the kind of spot where you can make an entire wedding weekend out of it — spending mornings drinking coffee with your favorite people on the porch before getting ready in your cabin.
Why I love it as a photographer:
The forest light here is soft and magical, especially in the afternoon. There’s a pine grove that is perfect for first looks. And in fall, the aspen leaves turn into pure gold.
Planning Notes:
✔ Multiple cabins for guests
✔ Ceremony options: gazebo, barn, or forest grove
✔ Good for intimate weddings & micro-weddings
✔ Remote — plan for limited cell service
✔ Gorgeous year-round!

THE AA BARN
📍GRANBY, CO (INSIDE ARAPAHO NATIONAL FOREST)
💰 BUDGET-FRIENDLY: AROUND $200–$400/DAY TO RESERVE THROUGH THE FOREST SERVICE
AA historic barn beside the river with mountain views & total DIY potential.
No two weddings here ever look the same — because couples make it their own. I’ve seen disco balls in the rafters, wildflower bouquets drying on the walls, and dinner served on long wooden tables under string lights.
Pros:
✔ Peaceful riverbank ceremony option
✔ Perfect for dancing + lawn games
✔ Rustic, authentic Colorado feel
✔ A rainbow actually appeared at one of my weddings here (yes, really)
Things to consider:
– Limited cell service
– You’ll need to bring in vendors/rentals
– Can get rainy — but moody photos are amazing

BEAVER MEADOWS RESORT RANCH
📍RED FEATHER LAKES, CO
💰 STARTING AT AROUND $5,000–$7,000 FOR WEEKEND WEDDING PACKAGES WITH LODGING
This mountain lodge-style venue includes ceremony sites in the forest, a cozy indoor reception hall, and lodging options for guests. It shines especially in the fall, when the aspens surrounding the property turn bright yellow. Plus, it’s pet-friendly, so your furry family members can join in on the celebration. It's a great blend of outdoorsy and comfortable.
Another Red Feather treasure. This one leans into that log cabin, high-country vibe and is perfect for fall weddings. The aspen groves in October? Unreal. They have ceremony spots tucked into the forest and space for cozy indoor receptions. It’s also dog-friendly, which—let’s be honest—is a must for a lot of my couples.
YMCA OF THE ROCKIES
Think summer camp vibes meets cozy lodge weekend.
Perfect for micro weddings, elopements, and intimate celebrations (they offer specific elopement packages!). You can stay on-site, hike, do archery, wildlife watch — the experience can be as adventurous or laid back as you want.
Guest Tip: There are tons of lodging options for groups & families.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK ELOPEMENTS
One of the most breathtaking places to begin a marriage.
There are strict guidelines & permit rules — but don’t worry, I’ve created full guides to help:
Popular Ceremony Spots:
– 3M Curve
– Moraine Park
– Upper Beaver Meadows
– Sprague Lake
– Hidden Valley
I know the best lighting times, crowd patterns, and hidden “just us” photo locations. Let's go explore them together.
O’CONNOR PAVILION
📍ESTES PARK, CO (JUST OUTSIDE ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK)
💰 TYPICALLY RANGES FROM $3,500–$6,500 DEPENDING ON DATE AND GUEST COUNT
O’Connor Pavilion is a rustic, open-air venue tucked away in a quiet corner of Estes Park, surrounded by towering pines and mountain views. It’s a privately owned property that offers the feel of a secluded retreat while still being just minutes from downtown Estes and the park entrance. The covered wooden pavilion is perfect for receptions or dinner, and the large surrounding lawn is ideal for ceremonies, lawn games, or dancing under the stars.
This venue is perfect for couples who want the Estes Park mountain feel without the crowds or a traditional ballroom setup. It’s peaceful, laid-back, and full of that classic Colorado charm.

HERMIT PARK OPEN SPACE
📍Estes Park, CO (about 10 minutes from downtown)
💰 $100–$250 for site reservation + $10–$15/vehicle entrance fee
If you're dreaming of an elopement or micro-wedding in the mountains without the hustle of Rocky Mountain National Park, Hermit Park is a stunning and often overlooked alternative. Managed by Larimer County, this open space offers peaceful ceremony spots with views of Kruger Rock, wide open meadows, pine forests, and access to hiking trails for post-ceremony adventure photos.
One of my favorite locations here is the group pavilion and meadow space, which can be rented for a private event or intimate ceremony. It feels wild and remote, yet it's super accessible—perfect for couples who want a nature-focused, low-key celebration. Plus, it’s dog-friendly and way less crowded than RMNP.

FORT COLLINS WEDDING & ELOPEMENT VENUES
LORY STATE PARK
📍BELLVUE, CO (JUST WEST OF FORT COLLINS)
💰 $200–$300 SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT FOR ELOPEMENTS OR SMALL CEREMONIES + $10 VEHICLE PARK FEE
For couples who want nature, views, and intimacy — without a long hike.
Arthur’s Rock provides stunning overlook views, but you don’t have to hike if you don’t want to! The valley meadows are beautiful and accessible — especially during golden hour when everything turns warm and soft.
Guest Comfort: Choose ceremony sites wisely — some are easy to walk to, others are more adventurous.
Best Time: Golden hour & late spring or fall!
This is an amazing spot for just the two of you, or a small ceremony followed by a sunset picnic and photos.
THE MISHAWAKA AMPHITHEATER
📍POUDRE CANYON, CO (ABOUT 25 MINUTES FROM FORT COLLINS)
💰 PACKAGES STARTING AROUND $4,000–$6,000 DEPENDING ON EVENT TYPE AND GUEST COUNT
This riverside concert venue turns into an unforgettable wedding spot for couples who want something truly one-of-a-kind. You can host your ceremony on the amphitheater stage with the Poudre River flowing behind you, then celebrate with a live band or DJ under the stars. It’s quirky, wild, and ideal for music lovers or festival-style weddings.
Yep, that Mishawaka. Known for concerts, but did you know you can rent it for weddings too? If you’re into music, riverside ceremonies, or just want something totally different, this place is such a cool and quirky venue. It’s great for couples who want a more laid-back, festival-style vibe.
EDWARDS HOUSE
📍 FORT COLLINS, CO
💰 $5,400 FOR A MICRO-WEDDING (UP TO ~25 GUESTS), $6,800 FOR A FULL WEDDING (UP TO ~50)
For couples who want a historic, intimate vibe paired with elegant simplicity.
The Edwards House is a beautifully restored historical building with cozy indoor rooms (like the Montezuma Room) and lovely garden/pergola space for outdoor ceremonies. Its charm comes from the small size — this is ideal for micro-weddings or close-family ceremonies.
Guest Comfort:
Indoor space accommodates up to ~50 people.
Rooms are cozy and fully equipped; the garden offers some outdoor variety.
Best Time:
All year, but spring/summer for garden ceremonies.
Because of its size, a shorter timeline works well (daytime or early evening).
TAPESTRY HOUSE
(“Vintage manor just outside Fort Collins”)
📍 LAPORTE, CO (15 MIN NW OF FORT COLLINS)
💰 PACKAGES RANGE FROM ~$59–$129/PERSON + CEREMONY AND VENUE FEES
For couples who want elegance, vintage charm, and all-inclusive ease.
The Tapestry House is a Victorian-style manor set on lush gardens, with an indoor ballroom and a charming outdoor pavilion. It’s a very “wedding-day feels like a storybook” kind of place, without feeling overly fussy.
Best Time:
Spring through fall (peak wedding season).
Evening or golden-hour ceremonies look stunning with their garden + tented pavilion setup.

WINDSONG ESTATE
📍 RURAL NORTHERN COLORADO, NEAR FORT COLLINS (WELD COUNTY)
💰 STARTING SITE COST: ~$4,400–$5,750+ (VENUE RENTAL FOR EVENT)
For couples who want a modern-meets-rustic estate with wide-open views and a flexible indoor-outdoor layout.
Windsong Estate sits on high ground with sweeping mountain views. It’s a blank canvas: indoor event center + outdoor ceremony spots + space to make it very you. The venue supports both large weddings (up to ~300) and smaller, more intimate events.
GINGER & BAKER
📍 FORT COLLINS, CO
💰 MEAL PACKAGES START AT ~$46/PERSON FOR DINNER; RENTAL FEE: CONTACT VENUE FOR QUOTE.
For couples who value food-first weddings, cozy restaurant vibes, and a relaxed city feel.
Ginger & Baker is a beloved restaurant in Fort Collins that also hosts weddings. The charm comes from its local feel, great food, and the fact that it's not just a venue — it's a place people already love.
Guest Comfort:
Indoor ceremony capacity: ~90 seated; outdoor: ~75.
Here Comes The Guide
The restaurant handles catering in-house, so food tends to feel very cared for.
The space feels like a blend of “restaurant meets charming event space,” not a huge ballroom.
Best Time:
Ideal for brunch, lunch, or early-evening weddings.
Because dining is a big part, pick a time when food + flow feel natural for your guests.
RIST CANYON INN
📍 JUST WEST OF FORT COLLINS IN THE RIST CANYON FOOTHILLS
💰 PACKAGES TYPICALLY BEGIN AROUND $7,000–$8,000
If you’re dreaming of something that feels like Colorado through and through, Rist Canyon Inn is pure magic. Tucked in the foothills outside of Fort Collins, it's a restored farmhouse surrounded by wildflower meadows, mountain air, and that cozy, tucked-away feeling that makes your wedding day feel completely your own.
It has this peaceful, intimate charm—like your own private getaway—while still being close enough to town for easy logistics. The ceremony spots are timeless, the sunset views are unreal, and there’s space to wander (hello golden hour photos in the fields!). If you're the type of couple who values intentionality, slow moments, and connection over crowds—this place feels like a deep breath.

LOVELAND WEDDING VENUES
SWEETHEART WINERY
📍 LOVELAND, CO
💰 VENUE STARTING AT $2,500–$5,500 + FOOD & BEVERAGE MINIMUMS ($75–$125 PER PERSON)

ELLIS RANCH
📍 LOVELAND, CO
💰 VENUE RENTAL TYPICALLY $4,000–$8,000 DEPENDING ON SPACE + SEASON
A true Western-style ranch with a barn, open fields, wooden fences, and plenty of room to celebrate. This one feels like country soul meets Colorado roots, and I’ve seen people have some of the most fun receptions out here — dance floors under string lights, cowboy boots, and wide-open skies.
It’s the kind of place where you breathe a little deeper the minute you drive in.

BROOKSIDE GARDENS
📍 BERTHOUD / LOVELAND BORDER
💰 AVERAGE PACKAGES RANGE $8,000–$14,000 ALL-INCLUSIVE
Flowers, water features, trees, gardens — this venue is vibrant and full of life. It truly feels like a peaceful garden tucked away from the world. Ceremonies here look like something out of a fairytale — and spring/summer evenings are simply chef’s kiss.
If you want romance and color, this one is a gem.

The overlook view during sunset is chef’s kiss, and the venue is super versatile—it can feel intimate for smaller weddings or grand for a full-day affair.
SHUPE HOMESTEAD
📍LONGMONT, CO

SUNRISE AMPHITHEATER
📍FLAGSTAFF MOUNTAIN, BOULDER, CO
💰 $400–$1,200 FOR 2-HOUR PERMIT DEPENDING ON DAY AND TIME
Perched above Boulder with panoramic views of the city and the Front Range, this mountaintop amphitheater is a dream for early morning ceremonies (and trust me, the lighting is perfection). It’s managed by the City of Boulder and must be reserved in advance, but it’s ideal for elopements or small gatherings with fewer than 50 guests. Nearby locations like Lost Gulch and Chautauqua make amazing spots for portraits.
If you're up for an early ceremony (and trust me, it’s so worth it), this mountaintop amphitheater delivers some of the most breathtaking views of Boulder and the Flatirons. The golden sunrise light makes for absolutely ethereal photos, and it’s ideal for elopements or intimate ceremonies. Plus, it’s just a short drive down to Chautauqua Park or Lost Gulch for epic portraits afterward.

WINDSOR & TIMNATH WEDDING VENUES

Exposed brick, rooftop ceremony options, and industrial charm — The Mill brings a modern-city-meets-small-town vibe that feels incredibly unique. A perfect spot for couples who want something different from barn weddings or ballrooms. Seriously, the rooftop view at sunset? Unreal.
PELICAN LAKES WEDDING ISLAND
📍 WINDSOR, CO

Yes — there is literally a wedding island. This venue offers lakeside ceremony spots, open skies, and some of the dreamiest summer photo backdrops you could ask for. You don’t need to leave Windsor to feel like you had a destination-style wedding.
Bring your paddle boards for portraits. I’m only half joking.

PRIVATE LAND & AIRBNB ELOPEMENTS
📍ALL OVER NORTHERN COLORADO
💰 $200–$1,000+ PER NIGHT FOR CABIN OR HOME RENTAL + OPTIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY/COORDINATION FEES
Some of the most unique and heartfelt weddings I’ve photographed have been held on private land or at charming Airbnb cabins. Many hosts allow small elopements or intimate gatherings with approval, and I always love helping couples find scenic off-the-grid places for private vows and unforgettable photos. Think mountain meadows, riverfront cabins, and even tiny homes nestled in the woods. It’s personal, flexible, and completely your own.
Some of the most intimate weddings I’ve captured have been on private land or in a tucked-away Airbnb cabin. If you’re open to thinking outside the traditional venue box, Northern Colorado is filled with properties that can host beautiful ceremonies and celebrations. I love helping couples find off-the-grid places where they can celebrate in total privacy surrounded by just the people (or pets!) who matter most.

Northern Colorado is full of hidden magic—you just have to know where to look. Whether you're picturing a barefoot ceremony under pine trees, dancing under the stars in a barn, or sharing private vows by a mountain stream, there’s a venue (or adventure location!) that can match your vision.
If you're still searching for the perfect spot, I'm always happy to help guide you. After years of exploring and photographing love stories across this incredible region, I’ve got a list of gems up my sleeve that aren’t all over Pinterest (yet 😉).
